Damon braces are a modern orthodontic appliance used to straighten teeth.

As is the case with traditional braces, the Damon system is comprised of metal or ceramic brackets and an archwire, but these components are lighter and therefore offer a good degree of comfort throughout treatment. Thanks to the use of low-friction technology, Damon braces swiftly move your teeth and yield an authentic and beautifully-aligned smile.

The Damon System offer two types of braces, Damon Metal and Damon Clear braces, which both produce broader and well-aligned smiles, using high-tech tieless braces and memory shape wires to move teeth fast and comfortably. The Damon system puts the well-being of your teeth first during treatment by using gentle forces to guide them into place.

Here at Oatlands Dental Lounge, we’ve treated hundreds of patients with this innovative and versatile brace system.

It’s a viable choice of brace for patients suffering from:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Widely spaced or gappy teeth
  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Protruding or ‘goofy’ teeth

What can I expect from the Damon braces procedure?

During your first appointment, the first step is to discuss your unique dental concerns, so we can ascertain if Damon Braces are the right appliance for you. We will collate relevant diagnostic information by taking photographs and x-rays, as well as dental impressions, allowing us to understand the anatomy of your smile so we can design and create a brace that’s suited to you.

Following this, we will fit your braces and ask to see you every 4-6 weeks, allowing us to track your progress and adjust the braces. Treatment will take between 9 – 24 months after which we will give you a retainer to wear, which keeps your teeth from shifting back into their old position.

More than just your smile: how Damon Braces enhance your whole face

The Damon system goes beyond simply improving the way your teeth bite together and look when you open your mouth. This unique treatment can yield a fuller and wider smile, that’s been named ‘The Damon Smile’. By providing more mid-face support and giving you a broader arch, Damon Braces can subtly transform your entire facial profile, and even make you look younger.

FAQs

What are the benefits of Damon braces?

  • Aesthetic: as well as giving you a broader and fuller smile, Damon Braces help to enhance your facial features.
  • Suitable for all age groups: Damon Braces are suited to all age demographics.
  • Comfortable: most patients experience minimal discomfort and speech interference. After just a short adjustment period, you will be able to eat and speak normally.
  • No need for extractions: treatment is effective, without the need for the removal of any teeth.
  • Growing your confidence: healthily-aligned teeth can give you the confidence to excel in your personal and professional life.
  • Reliable and versatile: Damon braces produce a predictable result and can address many incorrect tooth positions.
  • Speed: as Damon Braces use tieless brackets, your teeth move quickly, without compromising your comfort throughout treatment. Treatment time is less than with traditional braces.

How do Damon Braces move my teeth so quickly?

At your second appointment, we will fit the braces. Unlike other fixed braces, the Damon System treatment uses a passive slide mechanism to maintain the arch wires within the bracket, allowing them to move more freely. This reduces friction so that teeth can move more quickly and comfortably.

What’s the difference between Damon Metal and Damon Clear?

Both braces work in exactly the same way when correcting your teeth. However, the Damon Clear system is a more discreet version of its metal counterpart, employing the use of clear brackets and ties, so the presence of the brace remains subtle when you open your mouth.
