Dental phobia and nerves can be a barrier to treatment for many patients looking to replace a missing tooth or teeth.

Here at Oatlands Dental Lounge, we’ve helped numerous patients overcome their fear of the dentist, and to have the treatment they need to restore the health and aesthetics of their smile. If you’re a nervous patient, our friendly and compassionate team can help you manage your dental anxiety with the help of conscious sedation and gentle encouragement and support.

If it has been a while since you visited the dentist, you’ll find that dental practices are not the intimidating environments they used to be! Here at Oatlands Dental Lounge we’ve created an environment that is also welcoming and homely and caters to all your dental needs. This enables you to have all of the treatment you need, performed by a familiar and friendly team, under one roof.

Conscious sedation at Oatlands Dental Lounge

You can opt for conscious sedation if you’re struggling with your nerves and wish to undergo treatment. The effects of conscious sedation render you relaxed and calm whilst your implants are placed. Many patients find they are so relaxed they become blissfully unaware of the details regarding the dental procedure taking place

You may be suitable for conscious sedation if you experience any of the following:

  • You have a phobia of the dentist, dental treatment or needles.
  • You find the sights, sounds and smells of a dental practice environment stressful and anxiety-inducing.
  • You have sensitive teeth.
  • You do not react well to anaesthesia.
  • You prefer not to feel the sensations of the procedure and would like to be more relaxed during treatment.
  • You have a sensitive gag reflex.

After a few visits with sedation, it is common for patients to feel their confidence and sense of familiarity with their surroundings build. Building this positive association with the dentist can even help to eradicate dental nerves for good. During the procedure, you will be in the capable hands of qualified anesthetists, and whilst under sedation, you will be able to respond to any instructions from your dentist, should they require you to open your mouth wider, for example.
